Place flowers in water as soon as possible after purchasing.
Ensure vases are scrupulously clean as any bacteria left inside will shorten the life of your flowers.
Take off all leaves that will be below the water level.
Give stems a fresh cut at an angle as this gives the stems a larger surface area to take up water.
Use flower food in the water to help prevent bacteria and prolong the life of your flowers.
Re-cut stems every few days and top up or change water.
Keep flowers away from fruit, direct sunlight, heat or draughts. A cool spot with good air circulation is ideal.
Remove pollen stamens from lilies to prevent unnecessary staining.
